#3. Isaac Newton, Prism and Music

 

Hello, This is DJ, Mi-Hyun.

It's the third time to have this corner, SMV(Scientist; Music ver.)

I can definitely find the clues of fall, and which ones have you found?
 

I like to take a walk along to the back gate.

Now I can find maidenhair trees turn its leaves yellow,

and that makes me feel "Fall is really around the corner!"

As I thought of those ideas of color of the fall,

I realize that I can talk about the scientist

who worked for color and light.
 

He is, Isaac Newton.

Isaac Newton. Born in 1643 in England,

he was a physicist, astronomer and mathematician at the same time.

He built the concepts of infinitesimal calculus as a mathematician,

and Newtonian mechanics as a physicist.

Also, he did great works in optics field and unveiled breakup of light

and prism & spectrum by researching a refractive index,

And he compared seven colors through prism and heptachord.

As a physician, he knew the fact that the color and sound can be changed

through the different vibration of objects.

So he matched 7 notes and 7 colors, differentiating navy between blue and purple.

With those efforts by Newton, a brand new genre is invented,

combining notes and color and that is, Color Music

Now it's possible to convert sound to color and the video.

We can fully use this technique; art, industry, education and designing,

especially mobile phone's contents.
 

Such tries for combining color, visual image and sound,

auditive image are not just own characteristic only for scientist and musician.

It can be applied to people in acceptance side like readers and listers.
 

For instance, in Mozart's music, I can find cheer and blues at the same time.

That is, "Blue."

Also in Beethoven's music, Black like winter nights sky and silent trees.

In Chopin's nocturn I can feel the coziness like one spring day afternoon's nap.
 

Such things are natural reactions and human beings use their own sense

many outer stimulation through organs and by various kinds of ways.

Because of that,

human beings bequeath such emotions into the expression of poem.

Still, People consider subjective feeling though

it's time to be a good time for the objective explanation.
 

Newton didn't have a faith for emotional and illogical things.

But at some part, he was into alchemy

and was ready to accept the ideas of experiment with prejudice.

The saying, Newtons's music consists of color music and the basic.

It could be paradox to me like the most cold thing is the most hot thing.
